A GIFT from the Reading and Writing Project (Lucy Calkins); Teacher's College Columbia University:
February 2014
To ensure that Intersections Between the Danielson Framework for Teaching and Workshop Teaching is as helpful to as many people as possible, we've put the video clips in Vimeo albums (where our other videos are also available). This is the link to the website on which you can watch all of the clips: http://vimeo.com/tcrwp/albums. We will also very soon post accompanying tools on our website that can support schools in integrating Danielson's Framework for Teaching with Workshop Teaching.
You'll notice that each video album is focused on one of the three teachers being observed (Betsy, Elisha, and Lara) and within each of the albums, you will find an introduction to that teacher's observation, her pre-conference, observation, and post conference. You should know that these teachers opened their doors--to their first-ever observations and to a film crew--all within the first few weeks of the school year. We are truly grateful to them for welcoming us and take our hats off to their willingness to share their work with others.
This is our gift to education---no profits will be made from the distribution of these clips or of the DVD on which they are compiled. We share these with thanks for all you do each day. We hope that these clips will start conversations across grades, buildings, districts, states—about how initiatives for teacher effectiveness can engine conversations about whole school reform and raising the professionalism of our practice.
